Our Why.
The 2024 People in Agriculture Forum is a grassroots forum that will bring together everyone working on-farm. It is an opportunity for farm management teams to come together, learn, and share experiences to make on-farm HR easier and less stressful.

The lack of available staff available for permanent and casual roles on all farms across Southern Australia has become one of the most limiting factors in farm business.
Agriculture is not the only industry being impacted. All industries, in both rural and
metropolitan areas, are being impacted, and the playing field for employers is not level.
​
As an industry we need to think differently and apply the latest in recruitment and people management skills if we want to maintain our available workforce.
​
The agricultural industry’s approach to improving labour availability on-farm is very ad-hoc, with most information and training made available via private advisors and/or peak industry bodies. There is work being done to encourage
entrants into the industry, but none to encourage improvement in the people management skills and knowledge on-farm, the forum is just one step towards addressing this gap.

Develop a network of people leaders, who are working together to reduce the impact

of staff and skills shortages on Australian broadacre farms.

Increase access to highly capable people which can support the agricultural

industries to grow now, and into the future.

Through other project management and RDE work across Australia we get to see the best operators. This is a chance to showcase the talents of some amazing farm businesses, advisors and researchers, so together we can improve HR on-farms.
We celebrate our 10th Anniversary in 2024. 10 years of providing people leadership to
rural Australia and the agricultural industry.
